Message Series
Our seasonal Message Series allows us to delve more deeply into a relevant subject matter, over the course of several weeks, with the hope of growing individually as well as together as a community. These inspire our homilies, Faith Formation classes, and Adult Small Group discussions.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Children’s Liturgy allows the Mass readings to be proclaimed to young children at their own pace and level, for their full participation and understanding of the Word of God. Children who have not yet received their first communion are invited to attend Children’s Liturgy. Little ones, babies, and toddlers who need to move about are also welcome. They can be accompanied by a parent.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a religious and spiritual formation that uses Montessori principles to teach the Catholic faith to young children starting at age three.
This model of learning fosters the development of language, socialization, building, creativity, while children explore their environment.
Young children are visual and learn better by seeing, doing, and playing. Specially designed materials and inspiring presentations help children explore areas of faith formation appropriate to their developmental age: the Life of Christ, the wonder of the Kingdom of God, the Sacraments, and the Bible, including Old and New Testaments.
Sunday Mornings 9:00 AM at Ascension Parish Office
Barbara Cole will lead children in a modified version of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Parents are welcome to drop their child(ren) off while they attend Mass.
Ascension ALIVE: Family-Centered Faith Formation
Our Catholic Tradition refers to the family as the “domestic church” - a holy place where parents serve as the “first preachers of the faith to their children” (Lumen Gentium, 11). Faith formation, then, doesn't apply to children alone, but to the entire family!
Ascension ALIVE is a bold, family-centered faith formation program designed to serve the “domestic churches” of Maynard and Sudbury with three essential goals:
1.) To equip families to know God through engaging catechesis.
2.) To empower families to love God through vibrant liturgical worship and community gatherings.
3.) To inspire families to serve God as joyful missionary disciples prepared to evangelize and charitably serve our parish, local communities, and the world at large.
The Ascension ALIVE program was designed with the contemporary family in mind. By leveraging a digital learning platform, catechetical lessons will be available both online and at our newly-renovated Faith Formation classrooms at the Our Lady of Fatima campus.
Catechetical content will come alive at Sunday Mass, during monthly Family Sessions, and through periodic service opportunities, all of which will help families along the path to a better life through Jesus Christ.

Small Groups
Starting a group with like-minded people can help you feel grounded and connected to what matters in your life.
Small Groups is where our large church gets small. Groups of 6-12 people meet to discuss their faith, go deeper in our weekly message and become more connected to the community.
